Since last year, the Asian Film Award Academy has been expanding its reach beyond its home base of Hong Kong with the Asian Cinerama – Film Road Show program, bringing a selection of its nominees and winners to film festivals around the world accompanied by sidebar events.
The Asian Cinerama continues this year, traveling to Warsaw in Poland for the 12th edition of Five Flavours Film Festival (November 14-21, 2018).
This year’s Asian Cinerama program features six nominees and winners from this year’s Asian Film Awards – including Feng Xiaogang’s Best Film winner Youth (芳華), Hong Kong drama Tomorrow is Another Day (黃金花) (nominated for Best Newcomer), Kazuya Shiraishi’s drama Birds Without Names (彼女がその名を知らない鳥たち) (nominated for Best Actress), Chinese wuxia thriller Brotherhood of Blades II: Infernal Battlefield (繡春刀II修羅戰場) (nominated for Best Action Film and Best Sound), South Korean historical epic 1987: When the Day Comes (1987) (nominated for Best Actor), and Hong Kong action thriller Paradox (殺破狼・貪狼) (winner of Best Action Film and Best Actor).
Writer-director Chan Tai-lee will attend the film festival to represent Tomorrow, while Hong Kong International Film Festival programmer Kiki Fung will hold a seminar about Hong Kong-mainland China co-productions.
The full program of the 12th Five Flavours Film Festival will be announced on October 22nd.
