UPDATE: CJ Entertainment confirms that Lee Jung-jae, Kim Woo-bin, Kim Eui-sung and Yum Jung-ah will lead the cast of Choi Dong-hun’s Overheard remake.

Kim Woo-bin is currently in talks to join the cast of director Choi Dong-hun’s remake of Hong Kong thriller Overheard (도청), according to local media reports.

Kim would join Lee Jung-jae in this story of three surveillance officers who run into an ethical conundrum when they overhear an insider stock tip during a stakeout. The Korean remake will expand the number of protagonists from three to four.

In response to the reports, Kim’s management says that Kim has received the offer, but has not committed to being in the film. This would be Kim’s first film with Choi, one of South Korea’s most bankable directors with hits like Tazza: The High Rollers (타짜), The Thieves (도둑들) and Assassination (암살).

Local media also reports that Kim Eui-sung (Train to Busan) and Yum Jung-ah (Cart) will round out the main cast, but an official announcement has not been made.

A CJ Entertainment production, 도청 is set to begin production in August for a planned release in summer 2018. CJ will also be handling international sales.

Written and directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong, the original Overheard (竊聽風雲) was a critical and commercial success that spawned two thematic sequels.
